Terrazzo is mainly made up of cement, marble or granite chips and coloured pigment.  It can have small or large chips and comes in a variety of colours. It is commonly used in flooring for high traffic areas such as shopping centres.

Unlike other engineered stones, terrazzo has a high absorption factor and therefore must be sealed to avoid staining. Once sealed and polished it is very hard wearing, however the high gloss does wear away with time and weather.

Caesarstone® is a registered trade name.  It contains around 90% quartz.  It is used for kitchen benchtops, cabinets and bathroom vanities, in commercial and industrial applications.  Caesarstone is popular because of its design flexibility and wide variety of colours.

To check if your stone is the genuine Caesarstone® brand, look at the underside of the stone.  You will find information identifying that the stone is an authentic product.

Essastone® is a registered product ofLaminex® Australia.  It is made up of 95% quartz and was developed in Australia.  It comes in wide variety of colours and textures, closely emulating the look of natural stone.

Some of the textures created emulate granite, marble, concrete and terrazzo. They have a wide range of colours in their design palette.

Essastone can be used for feature walls, vanities, benchtops and splash backs.

Quantum Quartz® contains 93% quartz mixed with resins and bonding agents. It does not require sealing and is an affordable option to natural stone. It comes in approximately 20 colours and a variety of finishes from high gloss to honed.

Quantum Quartz is used for kitchen benchtops, bathroom vanities, bathtub surrounds, floors, walls, furniture, fireplace surrounds, swimming pools and high traffic areas such as shopping centres and large public places.

Silestone® is a registered trade name of Cosentino and contains around 90% natural quartz.   It is mainly used for kitchen benchtops, bathroom vanities, showers, bathtub surrounds, walls, tabletops and fireplace surrounds.

Silestone comes in a wide variety of hues, styles, textures and colours and is advertised as being stain and impact resistant. Silestone has a shimmering quality and contains an anti-bacterial product called Microban®.

TechniStone® surfaces are made from a combination of 93% quartz and granite, mixed with a blend of resin and coloured pigments.  The material is claimed to be durable, non porous, scratch and chemical resistant, and comes in a variety of colours, finishes and thicknesses.

TechniStone is often used for kitchens benchtops, bathroom vanities and outdoor pavers.

Smartstone is made up of 93% granite and mixed with resins and pigments. It is reported to be resistant to heat, scratching, chips, oils, liquids.  It comes with a 15 year warranty and is a popular choice for indoor applications such as kitchen benchtops, splash backs, bathroom vanities and wall panelling.

Collections include Santorini whites, Toledo creams, Paris rich greens and browns, Milan blacks and greys, and Naturale semi-matte honed look.

HanStone® is made up of up to 93% quartz. It has a gloss finish, comes in 40 colours and is more consistent in colour and texture than natural granite. It is promoted as being non-porous, resistant to staining, scratching and heat.

HanStone comes in a range of blacks, greys, whites and browns, closely resembling the look of natural granite. It comes with a factory seal however spills must be wiped away immediately, especially dark liquids.
