Sealing marble and limestone floorsFloor Sealing

Sealing Marble/Limestone Areas

Sealing the marble or limestone floors we involves thoroughly cleaning the stone to remove all inground dirt and excess materials on the surface. This is achieved by using special detergents and rotary scrubbers with all materials wet vacuumed dry. The floor is then left to dry overnight. The following day two coats of penetrating sealant are applied which soak into the stone and dry thereby sealing the pores from foreign materials. Our sealers do not alter the surface appearance or colour of the marble. Penetrating sealers do not prevent etching from occurring on the surface of marble and limestone.

After sealing the marble surfaces they will be easier to keep clean, but most importantly will not allow any liquids into the surface. Instead you’ll notice any liquid just beads on the surface. Sealing also helps to reduce the amount of mould growth in showers as it reduces the amount of water that finds it’s way beneath and behind the tiles. After sealing the area, when maintained using our maintenance process the sealer will last up to 15 years.

Benefits:

  • Seals the surface to stop liquids and dirt from penetrating the stone surfaces.
  • Seals the grouting to help stop liquids and dirt staining them.
  • The areas will be easier to keep clean.
  • Sealing will reduce the scum build-up in your showers.
  • Will help prevent mould growth in the shower.
  • By using a penetrating sealer the stone will be able to breath and not trap moisture under it.
  • Sealing will last for up to 15 years on floor areas when properly maintained.
